The Emperor of All Maladies is a biography of cancer. When approaching the concept of this design I decided to personify cancer. Whether you are battling cancer or you know a loved one who is, cancer leaves its mark on you. So on the cover, I have a dirty hand print smudged to represent the mark cancer leaves on the world.
